Short of taking a year to travel, every trip seems too short. Upon hearing that I would be going Switzerland for 9 days, most thought the duration was not enough for me to enjoy the picture perfect country. While I agree, my travel companions and I do not have the luxury of time (and money too) to be away from Singapore for so long. Already, finding a time that can fit all our schedules is so tough that I shall not ask for more. All I can hope for is to make the best use of our time without tiring ourselves out. After all, this is meant as a break for us to recharge and the last we need is to return to our sunny shores more tired than before. A delicate balance indeed and on hindsight, if you have time for only one…

Where to Eat in Switzerland
Now that the accommodations are settled, it is time to plan the itinerary. While planning where to eat is usually not included, a travel companion wanted to make sure we would not go hungry. Armed with a list of possible eateries we could explore, we started our 11 days and 9 nights trip to Switzerland.
Bern
Beaulieu, which serves Swiss and Bernese cuisine, was on the list of places that we could possibly try. It was for dinner on our 2nd day – a Saturday, and the restaurant is a short distance from the old town of Bern.

Where to Stay in Switzerland
I wrote earlier about Germany. You read and encouraged me to write more about the countries I have been to. So here it goes.
Zurich is the only place in Switzerland that has a direct flight to and from Singapore. Since the rest requires a connection (which translates into a longer travelling time), we planned our trip to fly in and out of the largest city of Switzerland.
Bern
The capital of Swiss Confederation is about 1.5 hours away from Zurich, both by car and train. As there are only a handful of accommodations (read: limited choices) inside the city's old town centre, we settled for one outside the UNESCO heritage site. Many hotels provide free ticket for travel on most public transport in Bern, from the day of check-in to the day of check-out.
