While a week starts from Sunday to Saturday (or Monday to Sunday, if you prefer) and weekend starts on Friday, Thursday is the day when most new movies are launched. Hence, show times released on this day every week by the cinema operators are generally valid 'til the following Wednesday. Just like major supermarkets' weekly promotions which run concurrent with the 3 or 4-day weekend specials and the monthly ones. Watsons has its Thursday special and McDonald's on-going promotion releases a unique design of Hello Kitty plush toy every Thursday. But for gadget-lovers like me, Thursday is when our once-a-quarter hunt for bargains starts. Other than November's Sitex held at Singapore Expo, the rest – namely IT Show in March, PC Show in June and Comex in August/September, are usually at Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
When the venue was undergoing renovations, the last IT Show was held for the 1st time at The Sands Expo and Convention Center. And the current PC Show with more than 600 exhibitors showcasing the latest smartphone, tablets, notebooks and/or cameras is at Singapore Expo. Not upgrading gadgets or re-contracting any plans with the telcos? Book-lovers can visit Singapore Book Fair, the 1st public exhibition at the newly renovated Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre, and exchange books with other readers. Food-lovers may indulge in what else but street food at The World Street Food Jamboree, a mega feast at FI Pit Building. Alternatively, consider 9MCM – Summer Edition Pop-Up Marketplace at APS Lifestyle Gallery that offers gourmet food, wines, produces, home accessories, deco and affordable arts.
